Abano Terme is one of the most famous spa towns in Europe. Thanks to its enormous potential accommodation, which is based on a significant number of hotels equipped with all department for spa treatments, can claim the distinction of the largest spa town in the world. The city center is characterized by a wide pedestrian area overlooked by ancient and modern buildings, large hotels with their manicured gardens, shops and bars, and between the various historical and monumental evience also contains one of the most important examples of the Aponus' baths, the Montirone Hill.

MONTEGROTTO TERME

Along with Abano, Montegrotto Terme constitutes the main center of the Terme Euganee.

According to archeological sources, the ancient lakeside sanctuary, frequented by Venetian people between the late eighth and third centuries BC, stood right here, in the area between Monte Castello and Colle Montagnone. It was a lake of about 2 square kilometers and a roundish shape, originated from a pool of thermal water. The sulfur fumes, considered divine, flowed naturally and powerful from the heart of the earth and they were venerated with votive offerings, mostly vases, bowls, cups and glasses.

GALZIGNANO TERME

Ancient sttlement willing to south-eastern slopes of Rua Mount, at the mouth of the Pavaglione and Cingolina valleys, Galzignano retains an almost untouched natural environment,

characterized by predominantly rural settlements, ideal for those looking for a relaxing holiday in contact with nature. The territory is still scattered with noble villas built by the Paduan and Venetian nobles who appreciated the beautiful and fertile valleys of Galzignano. It is striking example Villa barbarigo Pizzoni Arrdemani, in Valsanzibio town, whose historic garden is one of the most important ancient gardens of Europe.

BATTAGLIA TERME

Bordered on the north and south by two sumptuous princely residence, nestled between the hills to the west and by a network of canals that lead to the sea to the east, Battaglia Terme is an

amazing town, with very different characteristics from other places of the Padua area. Here everything seems connected and in relation with the water. The town stretches along the banks of a large river, has a footbridge reminiscent of Venice, here it is a unique of its kind in Italy museum, the River Navigation Museum, and preserve imposing hydarulic works such as the Arco di Mezzo and the Conca di Navigazione. Even the name Battaglia, old Baptalea, is related to water and could have meant originally “place of the baths”. They were, indeed, the natural thermal cave of the S. Elena Hill and its baths to characterize and identify this place since the eleventh century. This name from the thirteenth century is intertwined with the root of the verb beat, connected to the incessant, rhythmic noise of Battaglia' s paper mill, which no longer exists, but was really famous in the past centuries.

TEOLO

Nestling among the most beautiful hills, Teolo has very ancient origins, a rich history and a historical and artistic heritage of great importance. According to tradition this is the birthplace of the great historian TitoLivio. The ancient Titulo (latin Border) was built in a startegic position between the lands of Padua amd Este, the two major paleoveneti centers. A milestone of 141 BC, found near the church of s. Giustina di Teolo, would confirm the existence of this border, already inhabited in pre-Roman period. Teolo in the Middle Ages was one of the major centers of Padua, seat of a Podesteria in Municipal ad Carraese periods, and later a Vicariate of the Republic of Venice with administrative tasks on a vast territory. The Napoleonic territory reorganization before and that Austrian later, reduced the administrative importance of Teolo. Today is one of the most beautiful places of the Euganean Hills, favourite tourist destination for hiking and picnics outsode Padua' s gates.
